This month, I focused on UI polishing and getting the voice commands set up. The first week of the month, I spent time fixing some issues in the start and goal menu. I changed some of the data entry points from a drop-down menu to a text box. This change helped the flow of the app and made it easier to input demographic information.
The second week of development this month was focused on the voice controls. By the start of the second week, I was able to activate the device’s microphone on, and it was able to understand what I was saying. Shortly thereafter, I successfully integrated the voice controls with the touch controls, allowing the app to be used hands-free. This month, I also added a list of recommended exercises on the goal menu that changes based on the goal chosen.
Week three focused on some quality-of-life work in the app. The biggest thing I did was make the exercise list that appears on the workout screen editable. That way, if there is an inaccurate count or they manually input something wrong, the user can change it. I also added a feedback card that appears when a workout is done.
The final week I spent time polishing. I fixed how the permissions appeared and added icons to the buttons. I had to add a two-second mic restart delay because it didn’t work on all devices.
This whole month went really well. There weren’t too many issues and we are now done with development.
