This week I did not do any work on my capstone project. I didn’t do anything because I couldn’t. Most of this week I spent waiting while other people got me set up to work with Echelon. This week I did some research on Echelon themselves, and I worked on learning the basics of Java. I have done projects in Kotlin, which is very close to Java, but I’ve never coded in Java itself before now. I feel more confident in my Java skills now than I did at the beginning of this week.
When I got information on the websites and programs I was going to use, I started looking at and learning about them. I have used Jira and Slack before for different purposes, so I didn’t have to look at too much. Zeplin is not something I’ve heard of before, but after looking at it, it looks useful, and I will enjoy learning how to use it.
The final thing that I set up for this project is Android Studio. I’ve used Android Studio many times now. I did my midterm project in it and my previous project and portfolio class, so this was not hard to get ready. There were some things that I needed to download to prepare for working with the Echelon team. I enjoy working in Android Studio; I find it easy to use and navigate. Doing the UI and UX work is very easy to do, and that is one of my favorite things to work on, so I’ve used that part of Android Studio many times.
I’m very excited to get started tomorrow!
